Ghana's Inflation is coming down faster than expected, it has plunged from 26.4% to 23.2% in December 2023.

  Inflation in Ghana dropped for the fifth consecutive month in December 2023 to 23.2%, down from 26.4% in November 2023. According to the Government Statistician, a drop in food and non-food inflation pitched into the overall decrease in inflation. The government ended the year with an inflation figure below its revised target of 31.3 percent grasped in the 2024 National Budget submitted to parliament in November last year. Declaring openly the figures, Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim said food inflation continues to drive the overall inflation with a rate of 28.7 percent, while non-food inflation saw an inflation rate of 18.7 percent. In addition, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, personal care, and narcotics amongst others were the major factors that contributed to the overall inflation. "Year-on-year rate of inflation for December 2023 was 23.2 percent. This means that in December 2023, the general price level was 23.2 percent higher than in December 2022"

Construction of four major by-passes is progressing steadily on the Accra-Kumasi highway

  The by-passes; the 11.6Km Osino by-pass, the 6.1 Km Anyinam bypass, the 10.6Km Enyiresi by-pass and the 13.5K Konogo by-pass; are part of the ongoing efforts by the government to dualize the Accra-Kumasi highway to reduce vehicular traffic and accidents as well as enhance the free movement of goods and people. So far the contractors have completed the clearing of the road alignment and are progressing with the construction of culverts, bridges, box culverts, pipe culverts, and earthworks. Reconstruction and expansion of the Accra-Tema Motorway into a 10-lane span gets underway

The reconstruction and expansion of the Accra-Tema Motorway started on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024 The 19.5-kilometre project is a 10-lane span from the Tetteh Quarshie roundabout to the Tema roundabout and the project was awarded to Maripoma Enterprise Limited, a Ghanaian-owned construction company.  Minister of Roads and Highway Honorable Amoako-Atta announced that the Accra-Tema Motorway project was the first phase of the expansion project. The second project is from Tetteh Quarshie to Apenkwa while the third phase spans from Apenkwa to Neoplan. He assured Ghanaians that work on the project would be executed with speed and urged institutions that had erected billboards on the road to remove them as soon as possible. The Minister said the country would witness road evolution in 2024, characterized by the commissioning of completed projects. Mr Amoako-Atta was impressed with the ongoing drainage work at communities 11 and 12 and commended the contractor for the good work done. He urged
