The Motorcycle Couriers Union of Ghana (MCUG) has expressed its strong support for the apprehension of the suspect involved in the recent robbery of renowned lawyer Oliver Barker-Vormawor. The union says this stance reflects its unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law, as well as its appreciation for Lawyer Oliver and his chamber’s advocacy for the rights of motorcycle couriers.
In a statement, MCUG emphasized the need for police and community collaboration to create a safer and more just society. “The recent incident highlights the importance of working together. We urge the Interior Minister and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to prioritize cooperation with the community, listen to their concerns, and address the challenges faced by citizens,” the union said.

MCUG also raised concerns about the conduct of certain police personnel, specifically citing Chief Superintendent Comfort Forkah, calling for an urgent investigation into her actions. The union insists that the Ministry of Interior and the IGP must take concrete steps to reform systemic issues within the justice system.
Highlighting the principle of equality before the law, MCUG stated: “The uniform should command respect, not fear. We appeal to the IGP to take decisive action, restore trust, and ensure that the police serve the community with integrity.”
The union concluded by reiterating its commitment to promoting justice and fairness and encouraged all stakeholders to join efforts toward building a Ghana that is safe, just, and fair for all.
