In an interview, Osofo Kyiriabosom proposed a new approach to prison reform that aligns with President Mahama’s agricultural vision. He suggested that inmates should be engaged in poultry farming as a way to reduce their jail time while contributing to national development. According to him, prisoners who take part in rearing chickens should receive sentence reductions to motivate them and make them productive while serving time.
He linked this idea directly to President Mahama’s Nkonko Nketenkete initiative, which focuses on expanding poultry production across the country. Osofo Kyiriabosom believes that involving inmates in this initiative will increase national chicken output, provide practical skills for prisoners, reduce the nation’s reliance on imported chicken, and turn correctional facilities into centers of productivity rather than punishment alone. He emphasized that prisoners should be seen as a resource that can support national growth.
