Cyber Security Authority, National Security Raid Kasoa–Tuba, Arrest 32 Nigerians Over Suspected Romance Scams

In a major boost to Ghana’s fight against cybercrime, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with National Security operatives, has arrested 32 Nigerian nationals during a carefully planned early morning operation at Kasoa–Tuba in the Central Region.

The intelligence-led raid led to the seizure of 31 laptops and 15 mobile phones, which authorities believe were being used to carry out various cyber-related criminal activities. Security sources indicate that the operation followed weeks of surveillance and analysis of suspicious digital activities traced to the area.

Following their arrest, the suspects were taken into custody to assist with ongoing investigations. The seized electronic devices have since been forwarded to forensic experts for detailed examination. Investigators are expected to analyze data on the devices to determine the specific cybercrimes involved, possible victims, financial trails, and any links to larger criminal networks operating locally or across borders.

The CSA has described the Kasoa–Tuba operation as part of a broader, sustained national campaign to clamp down on cybercrime, which has increasingly targeted individuals, businesses, and public institutions. Officials say cyber fraud, identity theft, online scams, and related offences pose a growing threat to Ghana’s digital economy and public trust in online services.

By working closely with National Security and other law enforcement agencies, the CSA aims to disrupt cybercriminal operations at their source while strengthening Ghana’s overall cybersecurity framework. The Authority reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the country’s digital space and ensuring that Ghana remains a safe environment for digital transactions and innovation.

The CSA has also urged the public to play an active role in combating cybercrime by promptly reporting suspicious online activities through the appropriate official channels. According to the Authority, timely public cooperation remains critical in identifying emerging cyber threats and preventing further harm.
