Dormaahene Appeals to President Mahama to Investigate and Prosecute Corruption in National Cathedral Project

• Dormaahene Calls for Probe Into Stalled National Cathedral Project

The Dormaahene, Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has openly expressed dissatisfaction with the prolonged delay and uncertainty surrounding Ghana’s National Cathedral project, describing the situation as deeply troubling and unacceptable.

Speaking publicly, the traditional ruler questioned how a project of such national significance could stall after substantial public funds had reportedly been committed. He noted that the lack of transparency and accountability surrounding the project has eroded public confidence and fueled widespread suspicion of corruption.

Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II directly appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to take decisive action by ordering thorough investigations into the funding, procurement processes, and overall execution of the National Cathedral project. He emphasized that any individuals found to have engaged in corruption or financial mismanagement must be prosecuted without favoritism or political shielding.

According to the Dormaahene, Ghana cannot afford to normalize impunity, particularly in projects financed by public resources. He stressed that accountability is critical not only to recover misused funds but also to restore public trust in government-led infrastructure initiatives.

The National Cathedral project, launched as a symbolic and religious landmark for the nation, has remained incomplete for years despite significant financial allocations. Its stalled status has become a recurring subject of national debate, with civil society groups and opinion leaders repeatedly demanding audits and explanations from state authorities.

The Dormaahene’s intervention adds to growing pressure on the government to clarify the fate of the project and ensure that justice is served if wrongdoing is established.
