Police Arrest Two Women Over Alleged Assault of 12-Year-Old Girl at La Roman JHS Area

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two women in connection with the alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl at the La Roman Junior High School area, an incident that has sparked public concern over the safety and welfare of children within communities.


According to a press release issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on December 4, 2025, the incident was reported to the police on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The complaint was lodged by the mother of the victim, who appeared at the police station with her daughter. The young girl was said to be bearing visible marks consistent with an assault.


Preliminary information gathered by the police indicates that earlier on the same day, the victim had been involved in an altercation with a seven-year-old boy, identified as Horn Giftan Mesopeh, who is reportedly related to the suspects. Following this incident, the suspects allegedly went to the victim’s residence, took her to their own home, and assaulted her.


Upon receiving the complaint, the police promptly took a statement from the complainant and issued a Police Medical Report Form to enable the victim undergo medical examination as part of the investigative process.


Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two suspects on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. They were identified as Precious Giftan Mesopeh, aged 22, and Princess Giftan Mesopeh, aged 25. A third suspect, Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, aged 49, who is described as a fashion designer and the mother of the two arrested women, is currently on the run and is reported to have travelled to the Volta Region.


The police have confirmed that the two arrested suspects have been formally charged and are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. They are expected to be put before court on Monday, January 5, 2025. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to locate and arrest the third suspect to aid the investigation.


In addressing the public, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned against the use of violence in resolving disputes, especially in matters involving children. Parents, guardians, and community members have been urged to adopt lawful means of addressing grievances and to promptly report incidents to the police.


The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights and welfare of children at all times, stressing that acts of violence against minors will be thoroughly investigated and dealt with in accordance with the law.
