Bekwai Court Jails Three Armed Robbers 20 Years Each for Fiankoma Highway Attack
Three notorious armed robbers who terrorized commuters along the Jacobu–Anwiankwanta highway have been handed a 20-year prison sentence each by the Bekwai Circuit Court.
The convicts — Peter Boadi (alias Kwao Ziggy), Daniel Kwaku Owusu, and Eric Kwaku Danso — were found guilty on two counts: conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. The case was presided over by His Honour Mr. Appiatu.
According to police reports, on April 29, 2024, the trio launched a brutal armed attack at Fiankoma near Jacobu, robbing their victims of two iPhones, GH₵7,000 in cash, and coercing a Chinese national to transfer an additional GH₵30,000 via mobile money to an accomplice’s account.
Following an intensive intelligence-led investigation, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command apprehended the suspects between June and September 2024. A subsequent search at Peter Boadi’s residence at Obuasi Bogobiri uncovered a foreign-made Bruna pistol, a locally manufactured pistol, and live ammunition, all retrieved as crucial evidence in court.
The Ghana Police Service praised the investigating officers for their professionalism and reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that criminals face the full rigour of the law.
