The Asante Youth Association (AYA) has expressed deep outrage over what it describes as “crude, disrespectful, and reckless” comments made by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), against Hon. Dr. Richard Winfred Anane, a former Minister of State and a respected elder of Asanteman.
According to AYA, Abronye launched an unprovoked verbal attack on Dr. Anane during his television program, “The Evidence,” on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Dr. Richard Anane Deserves Respect, Not Insults
In a strongly-worded statement, AYA described Dr. Anane as a “distinguished statesman and a revered figure within Asanteman and Ghana’s Fourth Republic.”
They noted that his record of public service, humility, and commitment to national development is well recognized — and Abronye’s attacks were not only “unfortunate” but also “a reflection of a worrying culture of political indiscipline.”

Ashanti Youth Warn Abronye to Stay Away
AYA cautioned that the Ashanti Region will not tolerate Abronye’s divisive style of politics or his conduct within the region.
> “The youth of Asanteman are committed to promoting politics of respect, ideas, and progress — not foul-mouthed theatrics,” the statement said.
The association further advised all NPP presidential aspirants, parliamentary candidates, and national executives not to include Abronye in any campaign entourage visiting the Ashanti Region.
According to them, his behavior contradicts the cultural values and leadership ethics Asanteman holds dear.

Call to NPP Leadership
AYA also accused Abronye of contributing to the decline of respect and public goodwill toward the NPP and urged the national leadership of the party to publicly distance itself from his utterances.
> “His behavior has become detrimental to party unity, discipline, and cohesion,” AYA emphasized.

“Our Heritage Demands Respect”
Concluding the statement, AYA warned that they will no longer tolerate any form of disrespect towards prominent icons in Politics, Academia, Business, and Corporate Ghana who have served Asanteman and the nation with dignity.
> “Our heritage demands respect, and it shall be accorded,” the statement concluded.
