DVLA Rolls Out SMS Alerts for Licence Renewal and Replacement in Ghana

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has introduced a new Customer Notifications Service that will keep drivers informed about the status of their licences through SMS alerts.

This digital initiative, launched on November 3, 2025, is designed to make it easier for drivers to track their licence renewal and replacement dates — reducing the chances of driving with an expired licence.

🔔 What the New SMS Service Offers

1. Pre-Expiration Alerts:

Drivers will now receive timely notifications before their licence renewal or replacement dates expire. This ensures users have enough time to renew their licences without stress.

2. Expiration Reminders:

If a licence still expires, the DVLA system will send a second reminder to prompt drivers to take action immediately.

🎯 Why It Matters

The DVLA’s new SMS notification service aims to enhance road safety and improve customer convenience by keeping all licence holders informed about important dates. The move also supports the authority’s broader digital transformation agenda to streamline operations and improve public service delivery.
