Kennedy Agyapong Mourns El-Wak Tragedy: “No Ghanaian Youth Should Die Seeking a Job”

NPP Presidential aspirant and former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, where several young Ghanaians lost their lives in a stampede during a military recruitment exercise.

In a heartfelt message, Mr. Agyapong said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives, describing the tragedy as heartbreaking and preventable.

> “I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives at the El Wak Sports Stadium, where young Ghanaians seeking enlistment into the military lost their lives in a stampede. My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the deceased and those injured. No parent should ever have to bury a child who only sought an honest opportunity to serve their country.”

He extended prayers and well-wishes to those injured and currently receiving treatment, especially those in intensive care.

> “To those who were injured and are receiving treatment, especially those in intensive care, I wish you a swift and full recovery. The thoughts and prayers of an entire nation are with you.”

Mr. Agyapong described the incident as a painful reminder of Ghana’s economic struggles, stressing the urgent need for job creation, industrialization, and sustainable opportunities for the youth.

> “This tragedy is a painful reminder of the urgent need to transform our economy so that opportunity is not a scarce privilege but a national guarantee. No Ghanaian youth should ever die in the pursuit of employment. We must industrialize, create sustainable jobs, and build a system that restores dignity to work and hope to our young people.”

He concluded with a message of hope and unity, urging the nation to draw lessons from the painful loss.

> “May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace, and may this moment awaken in us a renewed commitment to building a Ghana where no one is left behind.”
