Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing His 13-Year-Old Daughter at Kokrobite

The Weija Divisional Police Command has launched investigations into the tragic death of a 13-year-old girl, Celestine Adonteng, who reportedly suffered severe abuse at the hands of her father, Isaac Adonteng, at Kokrobite.

According to the police, preliminary findings suggest the suspect subjected the young girl to repeated physical assault after accusing her of taking food meant for her younger sibling. Despite the girl sustaining visible injuries, he allegedly failed to seek medical attention and kept her confined in a room.

Police officers, responding to a complaint, visited the home and found the girl unconscious. She was rushed to the Police Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead on arrival. Her body has since been preserved at the Police Hospital morgue for further investigation.

The suspect, 54-year-old mason Isaac Adonteng, has been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations. Police say items believed to have been used in the assault were retrieved from the scene.

The Accra Regional Police Command strongly cautions parents and guardians against using excessive or harmful discipline, stressing that such acts are unlawful and can lead to devastating consequences.

Authorities are also urging the public to report all cases of child abuse and domestic violence promptly to ensure swift intervention and protection of victims.
