Police Arrests Two Suspects and Recover Stolen Vehicle Following Robbery at Mpatasie in Ashanti Region


The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a recent robbery and carjacking incident that occurred at Mpatasie, near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.


According to a police statement signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the suspects, identified as Issaka Jamal (30) and Kwadwo Badu (40), were apprehended after attempting to flee from the police along the Ofankor–St. John’s stretch of the Accra–Nsawam Highway on November 8, 2025. During their arrest, one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound while the other suffered minor injuries. Both are currently receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital.


Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, together with their accomplices who are currently on the run, attacked two occupants of an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z) at Mpatasie on November 7, 2025. The robbers reportedly made away with ₵120,000, three mobile phones, identity cards, work tools, and other personal items before fleeing with the vehicle.


The swift police operation led to the recovery of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, ₵5,900 in cash, a customized number plate marked “Congo-1-24”, and several other exhibits. All recovered items have been secured at the Police Headquarters as investigations continue to track down the remaining members of the robbery gang.


The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations to ensure that all individuals involved in the robbery are apprehended and brought to justice.
