Cement Truck Runs Over 29-Year-Old Woman on Apowa–Agona Nkwanta Stretch

A heartbreaking incident occurred last Saturday on the Apowa–Agona Nkwanta Highway in the Western Region, where 29-year-old Esther Amoah sadly lost her life after being run over by a truck loaded with cement.

According to reports, Esther, who worked as an insurance agent, was returning home after visiting her younger brother at St. Mary’s Boys Senior High School. She had gone to the school to deliver food to him, a gesture that would unfortunately become her final act of kindness.

Eyewitnesses say the tragedy unfolded when Esther attempted to cross the busy highway. Two vehicles reportedly approached from opposite directions, leaving her confused about when it was safe to move. In that moment of uncertainty, a Benz truck with registration number AS 630 P, carrying bags of cement, struck her. The impact led to her passing at the scene.

The driver of the truck has since been taken into custody and is assisting police with ongoing investigations.

One eyewitness recounted, “We were also trying to cross the road. When she decided to move, two vehicles were coming from both sides, and she became confused. Unfortunately, the truck hit her. She still had the food flask in her hand after visiting her brother.”

The incident has left the community in shock, with many expressing sorrow over the loss of a young woman described as hardworking, caring, and committed to her family.

Police investigations continue as family and friends mourn the sudden and painful loss.
