• Court Grants GHS100,000 Bail to Ebo Noah After Weeks in Custody and Psychiatric Review
• Psychiatric Report Clears Path for Ebo Noah’s Release as Court Case Drags On
• Ebo Noah Walks Free on Bail While Legal Battle Remains Unresolved
The legal proceedings involving Evans Eshun, popularly known as Ebo Noah, have taken a new turn following his latest appearance in court, as the presiding judge granted him bail after weeks of remand and medical evaluation.
Ebo Noah has been at the center of public attention in recent weeks after his arrest and subsequent arraignment before the court. During earlier proceedings, the court had expressed concerns requiring further clarification of the accused’s mental condition, prompting Her Ladyship to order a psychiatric assessment at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital before substantive decisions could be taken on the matter.
At a previous sitting, the court remanded Ebo Noah into police custody for two weeks to allow the psychiatric examination to be conducted. The remand was not a determination of guilt but a procedural step aimed at ensuring that the accused was medically and mentally fit to stand trial and fully understand the nature of the proceedings against him.
During that period, Ebo Noah was transferred under security supervision to the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital, where qualified mental health professionals conducted an assessment as directed by the court.
At today’s court session, counsel for Ebo Noah informed the court that the psychiatric report requested by the judge had been completed and duly submitted. Although the contents of the report were not disclosed in open court, its submission cleared a major procedural hurdle that had previously delayed consideration of bail.
The court, having taken note of the report and submissions from both the prosecution and defense, proceeded to review the bail application.
After deliberation, the court granted bail in the sum of GHS 100,000, with two sureties. One of the sureties is required to be justified with landed property, a standard condition intended to ensure the accused’s availability for future court dates.
The bail conditions underscore the court’s intent to balance the rights of the accused with the need to ensure that he remains within the jurisdiction and fully complies with all judicial directives as the case progresses.
It is important to note that the granting of bail does not mark the end of the case. The matter remains actively before the court, and further hearings are expected as the prosecution continues its case and the defense prepares its response.
The next adjourned date is expected to focus on procedural directions and the continuation of substantive legal arguments, depending on the court’s schedule and readiness of both parties.
The case has generated widespread public discussion, particularly on social media, but legal experts continue to emphasize the importance of due process. As with all criminal matters, Ebo Noah remains innocent until proven guilty under Ghanaian law.
Observers have also pointed out that the court’s decision to order a psychiatric assessment and later grant bail reflects the judiciary’s commitment to fairness, procedural correctness, and the protection of fundamental rights while allowing the law to take its course.
As proceedings continue, further updates are expected as the court determines the next steps in the matter.
