• Military-style disguise exposed as police crack violent crime network in Juaso

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has intensified its fight against violent crime with the arrest of six suspects believed to be behind a series of robbery and gang rape incidents in Juaso, a town in the Ashanti Region. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling what police describe as an organized criminal syndicate terrorising residents.

The suspects have been identified as David Adusah, popularly known as Vibes; Samuel Amantor, also called Road; Andrew Odei, known as Salinco; Sharif Mohammed, also known as Isco; Joseph Addo, referred to as Moves; and Chidi Arinze, who goes by the alias Orga Happiness. Police say the suspects were arrested on 8 January 2026 after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

According to the police, the group is suspected to have been involved in multiple criminal activities, including violent robberies and coordinated sexual assaults within the Juaso area. Their mode of operation reportedly involved intimidation and the use of disguises to instill fear and confuse victims.

Following their arrest, police conducted searches at the residences of the suspects, leading to the retrieval of several items believed to be connected to their criminal operations. Among the items recovered were forty-nine mobile phone covers, which police suspect may be linked to stolen devices from robbery victims. Also retrieved were a bayonet case, a green dress resembling a military uniform, and a photograph allegedly showing the group’s leader dressed in military-style camouflage.

Investigators believe the use of military-style clothing was a deliberate attempt to impersonate security personnel, thereby intimidating victims and avoiding suspicion during operations. In addition, a Toyota RAV4 vehicle, believed to have been used by the suspects to carry out their activities, was retrieved and impounded by the police for further forensic examination.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to their involvement in the reported crimes. Police sources indicate that their statements are aiding ongoing investigations as officers work to establish the full extent of the group’s operations and determine whether additional victims or accomplices are involved.

On 12 January 2026, the suspects were arraigned before a court and remanded into lawful custody. They are expected to reappear on 28 January 2026, a move intended to allow investigators adequate time to complete their work and prepare the necessary charges.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are still ongoing and that no individual found culpable will be shielded from the law. The Service also reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
