IGP Yohuno Promotes 17 Officers for Intercepting GH¢1.03 Million Suspected Cocaine and Recovering AK-47 in Major Operations

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, on 27th January 2026, promoted seventeen (17) police officers in recognition of their outstanding professionalism, dedication, and exceptional operational performance in the discharge of their duties.



The promoted officers were instrumental in separate high-impact operations, including the interception of ten (10) wrapped slabs of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GHC 1,032,650.00, as well as several sacks of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.


In another operation at Jacobu during a routine patrol, officers successfully recovered one AK-47 rifle, one pump-action shotgun, and eight (8) rounds of live AAA ammunition.


The IGP, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotions and commended them for upholding the core values of the Ghana Police Service through discipline, courage, and professionalism.


IGP Yohuno urged the promoted officers to regard their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and renewed commitment to service. He further encouraged all personnel to remain diligent and dedicated, assuring them that excellence, integrity, and professionalism remain the foundation for recognition and advancement within the Ghana Police Service.
