The Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects in connection with a coordinated robbery attack that rocked Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region on December 2, 2025.

According to police sources, the suspects allegedly launched a brazen assault on the Nkaseim Police Station, where they made away with an AK-47 rifle before proceeding to carry out a series of robberies in the town.

The robbery operation reportedly targeted Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank Limited. During the attack, the suspects stole GHC14,000 from the cocoa buying company and GHC12,000 from the gold buying company, in addition to an unspecified sum of money from the rural bank.

In the course of the robbery, an employee of Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was shot and sustained injuries. The victim is said to have received medical attention.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Mutar Kofi, 35, a commercial tricycle rider, at a location known as “Ata ne Ata” near Nkaseim on January 16, 2026. He reportedly admitted involvement in the robbery during interrogation.

Subsequent intelligence operations resulted in the arrest of four additional suspects across different parts of the country. Mahamadu Sagio, 45, was arrested in Nkaseim; Shaibu Issah Jallo, also known as Jibo, 28, was picked up in Chereponi; Abdul Suleman, 40, was arrested at Tanga near Karaga in the Northern Region; and Bukari Sulley, alias Tailor, 25, a trader at Alaba in Kumasi, was apprehended on January 25, 2026.

The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the high-profile attack, which had raised serious security concerns within the Nkaseim community.

Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to retrieve additional exhibits and establish the full circumstances surrounding the robbery. The suspects are expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
