A tragic road accident has claimed the life of an Aboboya (tricycle) rider at the Achimota Overhead Highway in Accra.
According to eyewitness reports and a video circulating online, the tricycle rider, who was reportedly carrying “bola” (waste materials), was hit from behind by a Toyota Camry. The collision caused the Camry to crash into the side wall of the highway, losing one of its tires in the process.
The victim was found lying helpless on the road after the crash, as bystanders gathered at the scene in shock. Eyewitnesses described the incident as very disturbing and blamed overspeeding and reckless driving as possible causes.
Currently, the identities of both the Camry driver and the deceased Aboboya rider remain unknown, as well as the registration details of the vehicles involved.
Police and emergency responders are expected to investigate the accident to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the collision.
This sad event has once again raised public concern about road safety and the increasing number of tricycle-related accidents on major highways in Accra.
