An electrician narrowly escaped death this afternoon at Lapaz-Tabora after suffering a severe electric shock while working on a power line.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred when the electrician was carrying out repair works on an electric pole. Moments into the task, he suddenly convulsed and remained clinging to the pole as electricity surged through his body.
Residents who witnessed the scene screamed in fear, with some rushing to alert the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and emergency services. Fortunately, the power was quickly disconnected, and the electrician was safely brought down by his colleagues and some residents.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention and is reported to be responding to treatment
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about safety precautions for electrical workers and the urgent need for strict adherence to protective measures during power line maintenance.
