Several Feared Dead in Horrific Accident Near Kasoa Tollbooth

A tragic road accident near the Kasoa Tollbooth in the Central Region has left several people feared dead and many others in critical condition after a minibus collided with a reversing Jeep early Sunday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, a Sprinter minibus (GW 7455-18) heading towards Kasoa crashed into a Jeep 4×4 (GR 7673) which was reportedly reversing on the main highway. The collision caused the minibus to somersault several times before landing on its side, trapping many passengers inside.

Rescue teams from the Ghana National Fire Service and Police quickly arrived at the scene to assist, while Good Samaritans joined efforts to free those trapped in the mangled vehicle. Emergency responders transported the injured to the Ngleshie Amanfro Polyclinic and later to major hospitals in Accra due to limited space at nearby facilities.

As of now, the official death toll has not been released, but eyewitnesses and media sources report that several people have lost their lives. The National Road Safety Authority has begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The incident caused major traffic congestion on the Accra–Kasoa highway, with stranded commuters expressing frustration over the repeated road carnages in the area.

This latest tragedy once again raises questions about road safety discipline, driver negligence, and the need for proper enforcement of traffic regulations across Ghana’s highways.

Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, avoid reversing on highways, and ensure vehicles are roadworthy, especially on busy stretches like Kasoa Tollbooth where accidents are frequent.
