The Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, has been granted bail to the tune of GH¢150,000 following his alleged involvement in a violent incident at Hwidiem in the Ahafo Region.
The court, as part of the bail conditions, has barred the MP from traveling outside Accra unless granted permission by the police.
Mr. Addo is being investigated over an altercation between a group of residents and a National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) taskforce, which reportedly turned violent.
The Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) has since called for a full probe into the matter, urging authorities to ensure accountability and justice for all involved.
Meanwhile, the MP has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that he did not incite violence but rather stepped in to calm tensions between the parties.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
