The Public Accounts Committee refers 12 state institutions including, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital to Attorney-General for prosecution over failure to recover millions of cedis lost to financial infractions.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has referred twelve (12) state institutions to the Attorney-General for prosecution following their failure to recover several millions of cedis lost through financial infractions.

Among the institutions cited are the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), both of which have been flagged for significant accounting lapses.

According to the PAC, the affected institutions ignored multiple audit recommendations and failed to take corrective action to recover public funds that were either misused or unaccounted for. The Committee emphasized that such negligence undermines public accountability and the prudent management of state resources.

Chairman of the Committee noted that the Attorney-General’s Office has been tasked to take immediate steps to prosecute officials responsible for the breaches as revealed in the Auditor-General’s report.

The PAC reiterated its commitment to ensuring fiscal discipline and transparency across public sector institutions, urging all state agencies to comply strictly with financial regulations to prevent future occurrences.
