Police Arrest Man Captured in Viral Video Discharging Firearm at El-Wak Stadium

The Ghana Police Service, through its Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has arrested a suspect who was captured in a viral video unlawfully discharging a firearm at a public event held at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

According to an official press release issued by the CID on 30th December 2025, the arrest was carried out by the Cyber Vetting Team at CID Headquarters following investigations into the widely circulated footage. The incident reportedly occurred on 28th December 2025 during a public gathering at the stadium.

The suspect has been identified as Abubakari Sadick, popularly known as “Cyborg.” He was arrested on 29th December 2025 at Adenta for the possession and discharge of a firearm without lawful justification.

Police further disclosed that the weapon involved, a Derya MK-12 firearm bearing registration number 22-GHA-1162, has been successfully retrieved and secured as evidence to aid ongoing investigations.

The CID confirmed that the suspect is currently in police custody, cooperating with investigators, and will be arraigned before a court of law to face the appropriate charges.

In its statement, the Ghana Police Service cautioned the general public against the misuse of firearms, stressing that ownership of a registered firearm does not grant the holder the right to discharge it indiscriminately, especially at public events. The Police warned that such actions could lead to revocation of firearm licences and criminal prosecution.

The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged citizens to report any suspicious or unlawful activities to the nearest police station.
