Three Suspected Armed Robbers Killed in Police Shootout at Anwiankwanta

Three suspected armed robbers have been shot dead following a fierce exchange of gunfire with the Police in a bush at Anwiankwanta in the Ashanti Region.

The deceased suspects have been identified as Issah Seidu, aged 29; Musah Yakubu, 35; and Yahaya Munkaila, popularly known as Tijani, aged 25.

In a statement issued by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, the suspects reportedly engaged officers during an intelligence-led operation, resulting in a shootout that led to their deaths.

According to the Police brief, the suspects had earlier confessed to their involvement in a series of robbery attacks across parts of the region. These criminal activities, the Police said, included an incident at Jacobu which led to the death of a security man.

The Police further disclosed that four rifles allegedly used by the suspects in their operations have been retrieved. The weapons were said to have been hidden in bushes at Manso and Obuasi during follow-up operations.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to dealing decisively with violent crime and has urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information to help maintain peace and security.
