Education Minister Warns: Long Hair Will Not Be Tolerated in Senior High Schools

Ghana’s Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has stated firmly that long hair among students in Senior High Schools will not be tolerated, emphasizing the need to maintain discipline and uniformity in the country’s schools.

According to the Minister, discipline remains the foundation of academic excellence, and ensuring neat, modest appearances among students is part of that effort.

> “We need discipline in our schools. It starts with appearance — long hair will not be tolerated,” he declared.

The statement has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his stance as necessary for order, while others argue that personal expression should also be respected.

What’s your take?

Should schools continue enforcing strict grooming rules, or is it time to modernize them?
