This plea comes at a time when the Union has also extended warm congratulations to the IGP on the extension of his service as head of the Ghana Police Service—a move they describe as well-deserved and timely.
According to MCUG, the 47 riders have been rendered jobless due to the conduct of Chief Superintendent Comfort Forkah, Commander of the Tesano MTTD Division, whose actions have resulted in the prolonged seizure of the riders’ motorcycles. These motorcycles, which serve as the primary source of income for the riders, have reportedly been held for an extended period without clear communication or resolution.
The Union emphasized the severe hardship this situation has caused—not only for the riders themselves but also for their families and dependents. One such case involves a woman serving as a military officer on a peacekeeping mission in Bawku, whose husband was among those detained. MCUG highlighted the emotional and financial strain placed on this family, calling it “deeply troubling and avoidable.”
