Workers Need Just Three Things — Affordable Housing, Efficient Transport, and Good Roads – Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu says Ghanaian workers need only three key things to live comfortably — affordable housing, an effective transport system, and good roads.

Speaking on the challenges facing the working population, the Minister lamented the worsening traffic congestion in major cities, noting that “when you wake up at 4 am, the congestion in town is already too much because our road system hasn’t improved.”

He added that many workers also struggle to find minibuses to commute home on time, a situation that adds to their daily stress.

Using Kumasi as an example, Mr. Iddrisu stressed the urgent need to improve road networks across the country to ensure citizens live a more stress-free life.

He cited the United States as a model, explaining that “in America, someone can live in Washington while working in New York because their transportation system is efficient.”

The Minister therefore urged the Ministry of Transport to prioritize road and transport development to enhance the quality of life for Ghanaian workers.
